Our goats

HHA LogoBoer goats originated in South America and were imported into this country in goatsthe 20th century. There primary purpose is to be raised for meat but they make wonderful pets too. They are often cross-bred with larger dairy goats that also make exceptional offspring.

The demand for "chevon" (goat meat)  in the United States is so high that producers can't keep up.  The molecular structure of goat meat is different than that of other meats. Therefore, goat meat digests more easily.  It is also low in fat and has a veal-like flavor.

fred the goatBoer goats are known for being quite docile, fast growing and having high fertility rates. The Does mothering skills are superior to those of other goat breeds. Mature Boer bucks weigh between 240-300 lbs. and mature does between 200-220 lbs. They have long, pendulous ears and commonly have white bodies and distinctive brown heads. Boer goats have a high resistance to disease with the average lifespan of Bucks being 8-12 years and the Does is 11-12 years and up to 20 years.

Boer goats require minimal care. They prefer brush, shrubs and weeds over grass. Most Boer goats are raised Spice Girlson pastures and can be raised with other animals such as cattle or sheep.

Herd health is extremely important to us so all of our goats are routinely wormed and vaccinated yearly.

We sell our goats on an individual basis or we offer a discount on multiple purchases.
